Being open to playing a board game, going for a walk, helping with homework, and leaning to play the wii builds the kinds of relationships I want with my wife and kids.

One Degree Difference

Little changes over time take you to very different places. Walk 500 feet from a starting point. Now walk 500 feet from the same point but turn one degree and see how far apart you end up.

Ends of the Spectrum

The difference between an hour with someone who is all about them and their problems (draining) and someone excited about sharing and helping (invigorating) is stark when they come back-to-back.

Encouraging

Understand and acknowledge where some one is, then encourage them to be and do more, if only because of the effect their example will have on others.

Damage Control

To get out of a relationship with the least amount of conflict so you can remain on friendly terms, say as little as necessary and repeat areas of agreement.
